Kappy (Kathy) Carmel
My roots are in Newton Ma. Where I grew up. I am the youngest of three, being a very musical & close-knit family, my mother a pianist, my brother Tom (the oldest), a guitarist (since the age of three). My sister sang & played flute for a short time. I played violin through elementary & middle school, took piano lessons & sang in many choral ensembles I sang 'duets' with my sister in church while my mother would accompany with piano/pipe organ, while my brother strummed along with his classical guitar. While In high school, I found two loves in my life, Chris (my high school sweetheart), whom I later married (& am still married to), and the love for culinary arts. I continued my love of cooking & worked in several restaurants over the next 14 years, as assistant chef to running a restaurant & catering business for two years in Santa Cruz CA. An adventure, before we settled down to have a family.
Chris & I married in 1989. We currently have two Beautiful children, Keri Ann (16) & Christopher. (13) & a wonderful Beagle "Toby'.
In 1994, we bought a "fixer upper", in Framingham. Ma. My ‘Handy’ hubby (A master Plumber) and I, have since completed many home improvements together.
In 1999 I craved to get out of the house, and to sing, so I sought out and joined a sweet Adeline Group (Post Road Chorus) where I stayed happily for 5 years, my sister Anne joined me in my second year in SA. We both quickly developed a strong bond with Sue Barsamian, and Sandy Kerr, whom were members of Post Road. We started our own un-official quartet. Double trouble. (I also sang in a Quartet, 'as the Tenor' in Happenstance for 1 year and had my first SA competition with them.)
After 5 years "Double Trouble", collectively we craved "more". (In this time frame with Post road, I was an at home & traveling nanny, trained & became a Nationally certified Pharmacy Technician, was a pre-school gym teacher & completed a three year endeavor with my husband & children completely renovating a 150 year old farm house In NH). We (Double Trouble) branched off on our own to explore other types of music (thinking outside the box). In December 2005 we were invited to Millennium Magic to join them for some fun with Jim Arns & holiday fun. There, we found a new home & a group that shared the same interest & personal goals, and the outside of the box philosophy. Now here I am, thrilled to be part of such a dynamic & goal driven group & honored to be a new member of such a nice down to earth group of intelligent women.
Yet again, a new adventure to look forward to.
